Onur Ozman Who?
Ahoj! In case you haven’t already recognized, my name is Onur Ozman, and I am the one who generates the content for Prague Indie City Guide.
Originally born & raised & studied in Istanbul, I landed in Prague right after my studies after I got a work opportunity. Although I was expecting this to be rather short stay (e.g. 1-2 years, maximum 3), I think I’ve “overstayed my welcome” as I really like it here. I’ve been here for 5 years now, and counting.
Basically, what this guide is reflecting why I really like it here, together with some of the people i met along the way. I guess you will feel it once go into the guide itself – hopefully I won’t bore you to death here so you won’t just run away 🙂 , but I think the culture in the Czech Republic, and specifically in Prague is contributing to its colorful alternative culture. and for me, Prague is magical not only because of its well – preserved architecture and overall scenery, making it a touristic attraction, but also this culture.
I’m not gonna suggest in any way that I’m an expert on it, but my humble opinion after this 5 years is that Prague, symbolic to its geographical location, is close enough to western world and its high-quality life, and also “eastern” enough to have its own unique touch.
Another key reason of why I started this guide is to actually learn more about prague and myself. Whatever you write, whether it’s a highly sophisticated paper on analytical philosophy, or a rather meaningless email at work, is a thought process in itself. And trying to gather together all the stuff I like about Prague helped me understand what exactly I like it here and therefore what I like about everyday life.
