MeetFactory – Mecca of Alternative Culture in Prague
MeetFactory is an old warehouse converted in a living contemporary cultural center of exhibition space & music/theater venue.
Reasons to go there
If we had to select one “mecca” of alternative culture in Prague, MeetFactory would be a leading candidate. A trip there is an overall experience: First you walk next to the train tracks, then you enter a large and not-so-touched industrial building which nice visual stuff all around, and you always see nice/sophisticated people. Every time I go there, I feel inspired.
MeetFactory was founded in 2001 by the artist David Černý who is famous for sculptures of St. Wenceslas riding a dead horse, Peeing Statues, London Booster, Tower Babies – a series of cast figures of crawling infants attached to Žižkov Television Tower etc.
